Approaching the finish. Who was under the spinnaker?

Saltheart approaching the 3 creeks finish.

Despite difficult conditions 8 boats with sailors and runners competed in the clubs first 3 Creeks Race.

Over 30 miles of running round the Dart estuary , Bolt Head and Bolt Tail and the Revelstoke Drive often in pouring rain provided testing conditions for the athletes.

Near gale force winds on Saturday’s sailing leg from Dartmouth to Salcombe and a long beat from Salcombe back to the Yealm made this a true endurance event.

Tired but triumphant crews gathered at the club on Sunday afternoon to collect well deserved prizes at a post race barbecue.

First prize and the Grafton Cup went to Jemesis, a J 109 from the Exe

Second was Bare Necessities, a catamaran from Saltash

In third place was our own Chris and Sarah  Williams in  Saltheart  with event organisers Chris and Luby Brooks as runners.

In a very creditable 4th place was another Yealm Boat with Stephen Maltby and his crew in Magic Dragon.
