Jan/Feb 2022 – Club News
Happy New Year! I hope you all managed to have a good break over the festive season and are feeling refreshed coming into 2022. In general club news, the kitchen is fully up and running again. We would love to welcome you to dine with us this year; food is being served Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings, and Saturday lunch and evening . As always, we are serving roast dinners on Sunday lunch too. Booking is advisable, please call the club or email Brett for a table.
We are going to be trialling Monday night opening from 17th January. The club bar will be open from 18:00h (no food service). This will also be euchre night – anyone wanting to learn the game is very welcome to come along and join in!
On to more specific events:
Firstly, an update on prize givings. The Cadets prize giving will be on 5th March, and Yachts will be on 26th March. We will have more details about timings etc nearer those dates, please keep an eye out.
The Thursday night YYC Quiz starts up again on the 20th January at 20:00h, with food served from 18:00h – booking for food is strongly advised. Quiz nights are really welcoming, and there is always space on a team for anyone who happens to be in the club. Questions are anything but intimidating, and most teams manage high scores most of the time.
The Six Nations Rugby will be on the big screen at the club again this year – all games will be shown, starting with Ireland vs Wales on Sat 5th Feb.
Wed 9th Febuary sees the return of Peter Brown’s Environmental Talks. The first talk will be by Lynne Kenderdine and is on the similar, but decade long, project Devon Wildlife Trust and partners have been doing on the river Avon. The talk starts at 20:00h, and Brett will be serving a sailors supper beforehand – please book in the usual way.
And last but not least, the Saturday 19th Feb marks the return of Comedy Night. Christian is set to return as compere. Our headline act is Noel James, supported by Tom Glover and Simon Emanuel. As before, Brett will be serving food – this time curry – beforehand. This is included in the ticket price of £27.50, or you can opt for the comedy-only ticket at £17.50 – please purchase from the bar or email Brett.
Thank you for your continued support of the club. We look forward to welcoming you all throughout 2022.
Brett and the team.
